Two men suffer dog bite injuries after attack in Florida

Many Floridians keep dogs as pets. The designation as "man's best friend" is generally well-deserved by many dogs and their owners make certain that their pet is well-trained, cared for and is safe for others to be around.

Unfortunately, there are exceptions and people can be irresponsible with their dogs. If a dog is free to run loose in the street, there is a chance that it will bite an unsuspecting passerby and cause dog bite injuries. These injuries can be serious and even fatal. After a dog attack, victims must be cognizant of the long-term implications and think about their options for a legal filing to recover compensation.

A man was bitten by two dogs that were roaming free. When another man came to help, he too was bitten. The first man was walking when the dogs charged him and bit his ankle. After the other man assisted, the first man ran to a truck for shelter and waited for emergency assistance. He required stitches. The dogs were later found at a nearby residence. After animal services arrived to investigate, the dogs remained with the owner. The case is still being investigated.

Regardless of whether the dogs are removed from an owner or not, the owner remains responsible for the dog's behavior. If there are dog bite injuries, the victim can be confronted with medical expenses, permanent physical and emotional damage, and other problems. The law requires owners to keep their dogs restrained to protect people as well as the dogs. If an owner fails in that duty and a person is injured or even dies after a dog attack, having legal advice is imperative to determine what steps to take to file a lawsuit.

When people are bitten by a dog as the two men were in this incident, they must think about the future. Even dog bites that do not seem serious can cause permanent disability and negatively impact a person in myriad ways. Before doing anything else, calling a law firm with experience in pursuing claims after dog bite injuries is essential.
