Teacher suffers dog bite injuries from police dog

Dogs are considered "man's best friend" for good reason. They are loyal, friendly and excellent pets. However, Floridians should remember that regardless of how friendly and tame a dog is, there remain baser instincts that an animal will have that could lead to a biting incident.

A teacher was bitten by a parent's dog when opening the back door of the car to let the child out. The parent is a sheriff's deputy, and the police dog was in the backseat with the child.

The teacher opened the door before the driver could say the dog was there and that caution was needed. For his part, the deputy said his son distracted him. When the door opened, the dog jumped out and bit the teacher on the stomach. The deputy got the dog off the teacher. After being taken to the hospital, photographs were taken of the wound. The investigation is continuing.

It might be surprising, but there are a significant number of people who suffer dog bite injuries in the U.S. annually. These injuries can lead to permanent physical and mental scarring. In a worst-case scenario, people can die from being bitten by a dog.

Owners are responsible for their dog and its behavior. If there is a biting incident, the owner will be considered liable for the injuries and costs that the victim faces. With medical expenses, lost wages, and physical and emotional aftereffects, a legal filing is often necessary to secure compensation for what was lost.

When a person is suffering from dog bite injuries, they can range from minor to severe and even fatal. After a person has been bitten, they must remember their rights to consider a legal filing for compensation.
